Why Bamboo Sheets
Fabric made from bamboo is breathable and soft.
A few years ago, no one would think that bedding can be made from bamboo fibers. Bamboo is known as a sturdy and hard material used in construction projects. However, bamboo bed sheets happen to be one of the softest bedding options around. These sheets are comparable to the most expensive cotton sheets with several more benefits - they are known to have less microbial activity, which means less germs, and they're moisture-wicking, which means you don't heat up at night.
On the other corner, cotton sheets are ubiquitous throughout most peoples' minds. Egyptian cotton in particular is widely known, where higher thread count is linked to superior quality. What many do not know is that a lot of cotton sheets marketed as Egyptian cotton, especially when the product is made from China, actually cannot trace any materials from Egypt. Department stores now fill their halls with cotton sheets that cannot be distinguished from one another, where supposed thread count becomes the only considerable factor.
It's not just about thread count, though that matters too.
For reference, thread count is the number of horizontal (called weft) and vertical (called warp) threads per quare inch. For example, a square inch of 300 thread count would have 150 vertical threads and 150 horizontal threads. Given the material is different, bamboo sheets with a thread count of 300 is similar to cotton sheets with a thread count of 800. Interestingly, other materials like silk do not even have a thread count as the quality indicator is grams per square meter (GSM). Walk into a typical store though and you will find marketing to only be about thread count. Further, thread count can also be misleading.

Since we are proponents of bamboo sheets, do feel free to do more research about different materials common to bedding sheets (there's percale, flannel, cotton blend, linen, microfiber, etc.). Know that there is no perfect one though, and your preference is completely personal. Bamboo is the champion for us because its fabric is durable, breathable (unlike cotton, bamboo fabric does not retain heat), and smooth to the touch (silky feel).
